Henderson County, Kentucky Obituary
Mr. and Mrs. Van Vactor Joint funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today for John Louis Van Vactor, 48, and his wife, Melvina, 47, at the Otis A. Benton and Son funeral home. The Rev. Everett Hooper will officiate. Burial will be in the Clay cemetery in Geneva. They were the victims of a murder and suicide Tuesday afternoon at the home of her parents.
Nephews will be pallbearers for both the man and his wife.
He is survived by the daughter, Mildred Lorene; four sisters, Mrs. Mildred Adam, of Missouri, Mrs. Lorena Southern of Kuttawa, and Mrs. Monie Higgs, and Mrs. Maude Johnson of Morganfield; two brothers; Finis Van Vactor, of Union County, and Raymond of Kuttawa.
She is survived by their one child, Mildred; three sons, Wallace, (Andrew) and Eugene Hancock, all of Union County; two daughters, Sue Gail House and Lois Hallmark, both of Henderson County; her parents; four brothers, Daniel, William, Vernon and Marion Courtney, all of Henderson County; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Cook of Smith Mills, Ida Mae Majors and Juanita Nunn, both of Henderson.
