JARRET W. DENTON DIES SATURDAY

Well Known Contractor Succumbs After One Week's Illness

        After suffering one week of heart trouble, Jarret W. DENTON, aged 64, one of the best known citizens of the city, died at 8:30 o'clock Saturday morning at his home, 514 North Elm Street.

        Mr. DENTON was contractor of the city building and also the annex to the Baptist Church.  In recent years he has been building school houses over the county.

        He was married three times, and all his wives preceded him to the grave.  He is survived by twelve children and nineteen grandchildren.  His children are:  Mrs. J. G. HAZELWOOD, St. Petersburg, FL; Mrs. John BRAUN, St. Louis, MO; P. N. DENTON, Owensboro; Herbert DENTON, Louisville; Mrs. Thomas GARDNER, Nashville, TN; Mrs. Ed LYNCH, Mrs. Marvin Rice, George, Ida May, Margaret, Louise and Jarrett DENTON, Jr., all of this city.

        Mr. DENTON served one term as deacon of the First Baptist Church, and stood well in the community.

        The funeral services will take place from the residence at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. George W. CLARKE, pastor of the First Baptist Church.   Interment will be in Fernwood Cemetery.

        The pall bearers will be:  James FRUIT; Leslie WIGEL; T. H. RAGSDALE; Matt EBLEN; J. S. SUELL and E. J. HALEY.
