Census of Henderson County, Kentucky
(formerly known as Red Banks/Charleston)
The following
was taken from File Box #1, "Letters and Petitions from Red Banks
1792"; located at the Kentucky State Archives. Recorded in the
Register of the Kentucky State Historical Society in 1927.
On 16 Nov 1792, Robert SIMPSON from Red Banks, on the Ohio River,
wrote a letter to Colonel Alexander D. ORR in Lexington, Kentucky,
requesting help in selecting someone for a position as Magistrate in Red
Banks, because there were about thirty families living there now and were
in need of some kind of justice system.
"An Accurate List of the Free Male Inhabitants of Charleston ("Red
Banks, Ohio") a part of Logan County, between the ages of 16 and
60 years, taken 19 Nov 1792."
